Educational Program: Off the Record with Chuck Todd

On Thursday June 1, the community of U.S.-based foreign correspondents attended and participated in an educational program organized and hosted by the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFPC-USA) in its WeWork offices in Washington, D.C. for an insightful and off the record conversation with now-former Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd.

Todd had an in-person meeting with U.S. foreign and White House correspondents followed by a drinks reception hosted by AFPC-USA. AFPC-USA was represented during the program by multiple board members of the Club of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFPC-USA Club), including Patrícia Vasconcellos, the U.S. correspondent for Brazilian TV network SBT; Vanessa Jacklitsch, a U.S. Senior Correspondent for La Razón and Telemadrid; Thomas Watkins, the Washington bureau chief for The National; Alex Raufoglu, who represents Azerbaijan's last remaining independent news agency Turan; and AFPC-USA Executive Director Thanos Dimadis.

The one-hour event was attended by about 80 D.C.-based foreign correspondents from various countries and global media outlets. During the off the record program, Todd spoke at length about some of today's most pressing political issues, such as the 2024 elections and the relationship between U.S. presidents and members of the press, offering a potent analysis of former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden's respective approaches.

Todd met with about 40 journalists at the rooftop at WeWork. He was introduced by AFPC-USA Executive Director Thanos Dimadis and Thomas Watkins, the Washington bureau chief for The National, a member of the Board of Directors of the Club of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFPC-USA Club).
