Nigerian journalist found dead after going missing
Journalist found dead in Nigeria's capital after going missing last month. Police said he was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
A parliamentary reporter with the independent Vanguard newspaper in Abuja, Tordue Salem, was last seen leaving the national assembly building on October 13. The family, friends, and colleagues of the reporter failed to locate him until his body was found on Thursday.
The hit-and-run driver who killed Salem confessed and was arrested, police spokesman Frank Mba told reporters in Abuja.
Journalists in Abuja protested two weeks ago, fearing security forces were targeting Salem. In Nigeria, where ransom abductions are on the rise, the protest occurred during a time of growing insecurity.
