AFPC-USA Issues Statement on Deaths of Journalists, Civilians in Israel-Palestinian Conflict
The following is a statement from the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFPC-USA) on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians as well as multiple journalists, primarily in Gaza, who’ve covered the conflict on the front lines.
The statement is as follows:
The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFPC) supports all victims of this horrific violence, including the journalists who are on the front lines, risking their lives to cover the vital information that needs to be exposed. The AFPC calls upon the humanitarian community to protect and defend all civilians in the Israel-Palestinian conflict. The atrocities of Hamas are a crime against all mankind; we assert that the retribution needs to be fixed on the perpetrators and not innocent people.
At least 22 journalists have been killed, eight are reported injured, and three are listed as missing or detained, according to the most recent data available.
Roughly 4,000 people have been killed since war broke out on October 7 following a coordinated Hamas attack that killed more than 1,400 people and resulted in the taking of between 100 and 200 hostages.
