Valentina Oropeza: A Venezuelan Journalist’s Journey from Caracas to the BBC

On the latest episode of our Foreign Correspondents Talk series 2024, we are joined by Valentina Oropeza, a seasoned Venezuelan journalist with two decades of experience. Currently reporting for the BBC, Valentina covers both the United States and Latin America for global audiences. Her impressive career spans roles as a reporter, investigative editor, special envoy, foreign correspondent, radio host, and documentary producer. She founded two investigative units in Venezuelan media and has spearheaded award-winning investigations that have garnered prestigious accolades, including the King of Spain Award and the Roche Award. With a background in Journalism from Andres Bello Catholic University and a master’s degree in International Relations, Valentina brings a wealth of knowledge and insight.
