Four-Time Emmy Winner Gustau Alegret Talks U.S. Politics and Journalism in D.C.
Gustau Alegret, a distinguished international journalist from Spain, shares his American experience in Washington, D.C., in the latest episode of the Foreign Correspondents' Talk Series 2024, an initiative by the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the United States (AFPC-USA). Alegret, who spoke to Indian journalist Khushboo Razdan, boasts more than 25 years of journalism experience and has been honored with four Emmy Awards, discusses the Hispanic community's potential impact on the upcoming U.S. presidential election and its perspective on illegal immigration.
Alegret serves as the managing editor and anchor of Club de Prensa and Cuestión de Poder, two daily programs on the international news channel NTN24. His role includes shaping daily news coverage through interviews and commentary. In addition to his Emmy Awards, Alegret has earned a Napolitan Victory Award and is recognized as a World Economic Forum’s Media Leader.
His career includes reporting on politics in Spain and the U.S., focusing on the White House, U.S. Congress, the State Department, think tanks, and Latin American politics. Alegret was the U.S. Correspondent for RAC1 from 2007 to 2017, and he has also worked for several other major media outlets, including Radio Intereconomía, Ona Catalana Radio, Europa Press Agency, and Catalunya Ràdio.
Alegret's diverse career also includes serving as the director of communications for the Catalan Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Consumer Affairs and as a strategic communication consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and corporate communication firm Intermedia GdC. His academic work includes guest lectures in Political Communication, Crisis Management, and Media Training.
